El Portus

Apartments & Campsite

Situated on Spain’s Costa Calida and nestling in a sheltered, south-facing bay with spectacular sea and mountain views, El Portus is set in an area rich with history. Located right on the beach, it provides a relaxing naturist holiday and many have even made it their permanent home.

Usually open all year round, it will close this year (2024) on 30th September for refurbishment.

Choose from air-conditioned apartments, all with a sea view, or four types of mobile home. There are two swimming pools – generally one for the winter (covered), and one for the summer with change-over usually taking place mid-June and end of September. There are also two restaurants and bars which follow the same pattern.
You’ll find a small, but well-stocked shop with fresh produce every day, tennis and pétanque courts, and a large spa with sauna, Jacuzzi and more, plus treatments available.

El Portus Local Area

Local Area

Whilst it is hard to leave the beach, pool, sunbed or balcony behind and put on some clothes, you won’t want to miss the wonderful things that are going on in the local area. It’s a little known area of Spain as far as Brits are concerned, and is incredibly vibrant, steeped in history, with stunning landscapes, up-market and cosmopolitan towns and plenty to see and do, all year round.
Cartagena – is only 15 minutes by car from El Portús and offers a huge variety of experiences – historical, architectural, marine, festivals, dining, shopping, markets and more. A walled city with its roots in Pre-Roman times, it’s a major Spanish naval port and the home of the submarine – the first of which you will find in ARQUA museum.
Historical sites include Punic ramparts, the impressive Roman Theatre and museum, recently restored Roman remains at La Molinete, “Fuerte de Navidad” – Christmas Fort , ARQUA – the national museum of marine archeology, Torres Park with the Castillo de la Concepcion castle and visitor centre, the panoramic lift, the Military Museum, a museum dedicated to the Spanish Civil War in the actual shelters used, and much more. As with all of Spain, there are regular festivals!
